How to Hang a Towel Rack

by HomeRepairExpert.com
Towel racks in the bathroom give the space a finished, organized look. Towels thrown over the back of the toilet or hanging from the doorknob can make rooms look out of sorts. Fortunately, hanging a towel rack in the bathroom is not a difficult task.

  • Towel rack
  • Pencil
  • Stud finder
  • Measuring tape
  • Small screwdriver
  • Hammer
  • Anchors
Hold the towel rack in place where you would like it to be installed. While holding it steady, make a mark with a pencil for reference. Use a stud finder to locate a stud in the wall.

Measure from the floor up to where you will hang the towel rack. Make sure both sides of the towel rack measure the same distance and mark them with the pencil.

Hold a level up where you have made your marks and make sure the marks are even on both sides.

Mark the spots where the screws will be attached. Use a small screwdriver and a hammer to gently but firmly punch a hole in the wall on the screw marks. Locate the mark on the other side of the towel rack and do the same there.

Hammer anchors that snugly fit the holes that you have made into the wall until they are flush with the wall.

Screw the brackets or the towel rack itself into the anchors until tight.

Tips and Warnings

  • Place the towel rack so the towels do not hit the ground or hang in the toilet.
  • Make sure that you place your towel rack where it is easily accessible.
